"Sarah"came to us by way of Save A Forgotten Equine: http://www.safehorses.org. SAFE rescues horses from feedlots in order to rehab and re-home them.
November 2005, a SAFE representative discovered Sarah in the cow barn at a local auction yard. It’s unclear how long Sarah had been there, but it was quite clear that she was in desperate condition – pathetically thin, crippled from a catastrophic knee injury and so malnourished that much of her hair had fallen out. The auction yard agreed to give Sarah to SAFE and they placed her in foster care.
SAFE contacted Bedlam late in January 2006 to see if they could board Sarah with us. Well...Nanci Davis & Ginger White volunteered to each pay ½ of Sarah’s board so that she could spend the rest of her life at Bedlam. And as they say...the rest is history!
Sarah is now a permanent Bedlamite with sponsors for her board, generous help with veterinary care from Evergreen Equine and excellent help from farrier, Joe Milburn.
Sarah will never be sound, but couldn’t be happier! She manages to run and buck at least once every day and, on hot days, she makes it a priority to climb into the stock tub for a good splash! Everybody at the barn jumps in with hugs & cookies -- life is pretty good.
